We believe working with PDF files should be free, private, and accessible to everyone. Most online PDF tools require you to upload your documents to remote servers, creating unnecessary privacy risks. OpenPDFTools takes a different approach: every operation happens right in your browser. There are no uploads, no accounts, no file size tracking, and no data collection. Students compressing lecture notes, professionals merging contracts, and anyone who values their privacy can get the job done here without giving up control of their files.

OpenPDFTools is powered by WebAssembly and modern JavaScript libraries that run entirely in your web browser. When you select a file, it is processed using client-side code - the same technology that powers complex web applications. Your PDF never leaves your device’s memory, and once you close the tab, all data is gone. This approach eliminates upload and download wait times, works offline after the page loads, so your privacy is built in from the start. No server infrastructure is needed to process your files, which is why we can offer everything for free.

We currently offer 15 tools and support multiple languages, with more on the way. Next up: batch processing for handling multiple files at once, a dark mode interface, and translations into 40+ languages so people can use these tools in their own language. Every new addition will stay free, private, and browser-based.
